What the brewers say

"Imperial stout aged on Reese's Peanut Butter, Mallo Creme and roasted marshmallows. Tap Room only."

What our panel thought

“Peanut brittle on the nose. When combined with the dark malts in the flavor, it’s peanut butter cups. Soft, pillowy vanilla from the marshmallow complements the big mouthfeel. It’s sweet overall, but not to the point of being cloying, with a lingering bite of alcohol.”

What our editors thought

“Natural earthy peanut on the nose—spicy and woody. The sip is sweeter but bolstered by that earthy real peanut and a big low-end roast malt that builds support for the sweeter top end.”

Great Divide Brewing S’mores Yeti Imperial Stout

Fascinating spicy-floral nose: cinnamon Red Hots, cloves, chai, elderflower; lighter tropical fruit, coconut, vanilla. More floral spice in the flavor, balanced by coffee roast, milk chocolate, and building hop bitterness.

Perennial Artisan Ales On y Va

Aroma: “Orange, lemon, and tangerine with some herbal green tea and peppery phenolics. Light bready malt in the background.” Flavor: “Foreground is a light spicy saison character: earthy, herbal, lemon, stone fruit, grainy malt, spicy phenolics of clove and pepper. Hops come through as a citrus background. Finishes very dry and crisp.” Overall: “Traditional dry-hopped fruity and slightly tart saison with a light, dry finish. The hops are subtle and dovetail with the yeast nicely.”

Firestone Walker Brewing Co PNC Imperial Buckwheat Stout

“A boozy chocolate mess that keeps you coming back for more. Port character on the nose. Big barrel qualities reminiscent of rum. Slightly spicy and complex with some sherry notes that come out as it warms. Chocolate, bourbon, and tobacco in the taste. The complexity balances the alcohol bite. The refined aged character gives it smooth cohesion, and the more you partake, the more you want to keep drinking it.”
