What the brewers say

Purring with aromatics from hefty Simcoe dry hopping, Sleek’s grapefruit, pine, and melon flavors race across the tongue. Dynamic hops taste. Zero drag.

What our panel thought

Slight haze, tropical nose with layers of strawberry, citrus, and a touch of dankness. Perfect body with the tropical hops flavors coming to the front. Juicy fruit finish with lower bitterness than the style calls for. Leans toward the creative juicy side of the style.

What our editors thought

A citronella nose mashes up fruit with mint, tire rubber, and subtle cannabis. The sip is superbly smooth in its expression of bitterness despite the impossibly pale body. Excellent.

WeldWerks Double Guava Milkshake

Deep orange color with chunks. Distinctive guava nose with vanilla. Balanced mouthfeel between the lactose and fruit while allowing the base beer to show itself. Sweet by design, but restrained.

Southern Grist Brewing Company [Insert Juicy Pun]

“A nice hop funk in the best way. Dank sulfur diesel notes on top of low orange. Smooth body and flavor with more orange than diesel. A bit sweet, but enough bitterness to balance. Very full mouthfeel.”

Russian River Brewing Company Blind Pig IPA

**Aroma:** “Evergreen forest, grapefruit, crayons, and Play-Doh. Slightly briny? Very nice juicy hops character with orange, grapefruit, and slight lemon.” **Flavor:** “Medium bitterness with a rather light body. Slight new-shoe-like taste with a growing bitterness that extended well into the aftertaste and continued to grow. As it warms the rubber goes away, and we are left with a dank hops note with a touch of garlic. This beer has a nice body with a smooth character. The pine is showcased in the hops, and the grapefruit citrus notes help round out the hops profile. The beer is nicely balanced between the hops bitterness and flavor.” **Overall:** “Dank hops notes with slight pine. Moderate bitterness that didn’t come out until it warmed slightly. An IPA that leans toward the resiny and dank side of the spectrum. Some citrus brightness keeps it from being too sticky. Perhaps better suited to contemplative stormy evenings than daytime revelry. This beer came together very well with pleasant hops and not too much bitterness.”
